Understanding Online Joker Poker

An online video poker game, Joker Poker makes playing poker, in which the Joker is wild, as easy as playing online slots. As a wild card, the Joker can substitute for any of the other cards, which means players can use it to help form successful hands.

Like all other games of poker, the goal for the player is to build as strong a hand as possible, as poker hands are ranked in the pay table, so some hands do pay much higher than other hands.

The game generally uses a virtual standard deck of 52 playing cards, to which one Joker has been added, bringing the number of cards used in the game up to 53.

Winning Joker Poker Hands

The pay tables in most online Joker Poker games contain a large number of winning hands. These tend to follow the classic poker rankings.

A few of these, ranked from highest to lowest, include a Natural Royal Flush, Five of a Kind, Joker Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind, Two Pairs, and Kings or Better.

A Royal Flush contains five cards of the same suit, such as the Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and 10 of spades; Five of a Kind comprises four cards of matching suits and one Joker; a Straight Flush is made up of five sequential cards with matching suits; a Four of a Kind contains four cards of the same value; a Full House is made up of three cards with the same face value and a pair of Kings or Aces; and a Flush is any five cards of the same suit.

Playing Joker Poker Online

At the start of a game of online Joker Poker, the player will place their initial bet, and will then be dealt five cards. The cards appear in a row on the screen.

If the player wishes to retain any of those cards, they need to select either the card itself, or the Hold button below the card. Once the player has selected all the cards they wish to keep, they would need to select the Deal button.

When the player does that, the cards not being kept will be removed from the screen, and new cards dealt in their place.

Online Joker Poker Tips

A few handy tips can go a long way when playing Joker Poker online, although players must remember that there is no such thing as a strategy that is guaranteed to win.

Most of the tips for playing are based on one simple thing; namely, whether or not the player’s hand contains a Joker. This is because the Joker, as a Wild, is one of the most valuable and important cards in the deck.

If the player’s hand does not contain a Joker, they should keep four cards for a Royal Flush, keep three cards for a Straight Flush, keep a four-card Straight, and keep to Royal Flush cards lower than King or Ace, if they are of the same suit.

If the player’s Joker Poker hand does contain a Joker, they should keep Three of a Kind or higher, keep four cards for a Royal Flush, keep high-paying pairs such as Aces or Kings, and keep Straights of four cards.
